Bound for Heaven, Bound to Earth
It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another Monday Bible Meme! One of the challenges everyone faces is the idea that you can get to Heaven while focusing on the materialistic things in their lives. Jesus said, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?…

“Serve Tables” from Acts 6
Text—Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and…

Serving Two Masters?
It’s Monday! As I stated last week, this is a new project of mine discussing bible memes as found on social media. The articles, I usually post on Mondays, have moved over to Tuesdays so they are not being replaced. The scriptures listed in this meme are: “No one can serve two masters; for either…

Are you Holding a Grudge?
Introduction In the parable of the vineyard, Mt. 20:1-15, Jesus talks about a man hiring laborers to work on his property. He goes out first thing in the morning and hires a group for a denarius (a day’s wage). He later goes out at various times of the day and hires more laborers; even up…

One who Sows Discord among the brethren
Introduction The final thing that God hates, listed in verse 19, is ‘one who sows discord among the brethren.’ I believe this one, being the last, is considered the most heinous of them all. God Replaced Again!
Introduction I’m amazed, sometimes, how ideas for articles come to me. Recently, I was listening to someone, leading the Lord’s Supper, give a talk on the trial of Jesus. The verses used were standard for the setting, yet my brain heard a verse, I’d heard hundreds of times, and it clicked in a slightly different…

False Witness that Speaks Lies
Introduction We’re all familiar with a courtroom scene when a witness comes forth, raises their right hand, and swears to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth… Now if one lies while under oath it is called perjury. This is a modern term for a false witness who speaks lie. This…

Are you Swift to Hear?
Introduction Several years ago, a brother-in-Christ stated that he was going to step away from preaching and teaching for a while. He wasn’t our located preacher but one who filled in during his absence. When I questioned his statement, he said that he wanted to be more, “swift to hear and slow to speak” (referring…

Feet that are swift in running to evil
Introduction Hot on the heels of the previous thing that God hates (A heart that devises wicked plans, Proverbs 6:18), comes this one which goes hand in hand. Those who carry out wicked plans do so without hesitation. They are eager to get their hands dirty to carry out their plan. Looking back at Proverbs…
