Introduction
Every four years, just like the Olympics and Leap-a-year, we have a presidential election, in the United States, to elect the individual who will run the country for the next four years. Obviously, everyone wants their candidate to win as opposed to the other. Arguments ensue; including name calling, threats, slander, and lies.
While the president changes from time to time, there is one thing that is, and always has been, unchanging; God is still in control. That will never change.

Ten Things that Won’t Change
- God is still on His Throne (Dan. 7:9; Mt. 25:31)
- Jesus is still King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev. 17:14; 19:16)
- The Bible still has all the answers to every problem (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
- The Tomb is still empty (Mk. 16:6)
- Jesus is still the only way to Heaven (Jn. 14:6; Heb. 13:8)
- Prayer Still Works. It still makes a difference and God still answers prayers. (Jas. 5:16b)
- Obedience to God, not the government, is still our salvation (Mt. 7:21)
- There is still room at the cross (2 Pet. 3:9; Titus 2:11)
- Jesus still saves those who are obedient to His Word (Jn. 14:23)
- God is still with us always. He will never leave us or forsake us. (Heb. 13:5)
Looking at the Bigger Picture
When a new president is elected and inaugurated into office; whether you like him or not, you should still respect the office of the land. You don’t have to like him, or his policies, but you should respect the office.
The apostle Paul learned this the hard way when he spoke “out of turn” in Acts 23:1-2, Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, “Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.” And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. Paul breathed a threat in verse 3, but when he learned the identity of the High Priest (verse 4), he humbly apologized, “I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’” (Acts 23:5). The Old Law reference he made was Ex. 22:28.
We can learn a valuable lesson from this; we need to respect the office of the leader of our own country; regardless of where we live. This will be part of our own judgment on the Last Day (2 Cor. 5:10).
Conclusion
Whether the candidate you vote for gets elected or not, remember God and Jesus are still the ones ruling over all. Your behavior, thoughts, and actions are always taken into consideration when you come before the throne of judgment (Eccl. 12:14; Heb. 4:13)
