It’s Monday! As I stated last week, this is a new project of mine discussing bible memes as found on social media. The articles, I usually post on Mondays, have moved over to Tuesdays so they are not being replaced.

The scriptures listed in this meme are: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24) “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:13), and For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. (Galatians 6:8)
All three verses are great choices; the first two are spoken by Jesus, and the third was written by the apostle Paul to the church in Galatia. If you become a Christian, you can only serve Jesus and that means giving up your former life (Col. 3:8-10). You can become baptized into the faith and then go on living your life as you always have. You need to be separate from the world (2 Cor. 6:17)
As the apostle John writes, Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15-17)
