Cracks in your Foundation

We begin a new series on Mondays called, Monday Bible Memes. I’ll post a meme as found on social media, Pinterest, or some other platform, describe the meme and the quote (including the bible verse), and then share a few comments about it. My readers are encouraged to agree or disagree with my comments but, if you disagree, you need to provide proper book, chapter, and verse to counter my comments.

“The Devil doesn’t come at your through your front door. He looks for cracks in your foundation.”

The verse chosen for this meme is Eph. 6:12 in which the apostle Paul writes, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

While I agree with the statement featured in the meme itself, the bible verse is a poor choice. In discussing the foundation, we should look at 1 Cor. 3:11, For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11) We know Satan is a crafty individual especially if he can transform himself into an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14-15) so he will use any opportunity that we give him to enter our lives unannounced.

The apostle Peter tells us, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) We need to be on our guard which is why the bible verse in the meme should have been verse 11, Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

Don’t forget, the articles normally seen on Mondays have been moved to Tuesdays!
